Arlington Public Art Cited by APA
as National Case Study

We’ve been doing research into the way that other researchers document the value of public art, and discovered a report published last year by the American Planning Association on that topic. The report calls out Arlington County’s public art program as one of four case studies from the past twenty years.

The report was authored by Jeffery Soule and can be accessed through the APA web site.

Readers of this web site know of the long relationship we have had with Arlington County. In 2004, I completed the County’s public art master plan, in collaboration with Jennifer McGregor and the Laboratory for Architecture and Building. Since then, I’ve commissioned projects for the county government and for private development, and I am currently finishing a white paper that review the public art program’s body of work in the context of the broader arguments about the value of public art to communities.
