Dedication: Lay-lah, Lay-lah
Ella Ponizovsky Bergelson’s stunning Lay-lah Lay-lah mural, at the Horwitz-Wasserman Holocaust Memorial Plaza in Center City Philadelphia, was dedicated on Sept. 26, 2025.
This is the first large-scale, public mural of Holocaust remembrance in the U.S., and the first mural in the historic Benjamin Franklin Parkway corridor in Philadelphia. The process of developing goals for the project, recruiting artists, and managing the concept design process, were led by Bressi.
There is so much to say about Ella’s extraordinary vision and the tenacious team at the Philadelphia Holocaust Remembrance Foundation and Mural Arts Philadelphia that has developed this project over the better part of four years. For the moment we’ll let Ella’s words speak for themselves, in this article and in this video.
