A Whirlwind Week in Athens
Matthew Mazzotta leads a pop-up conversation outside the University of Georgia Student Union
Dec 5, 2015
This week Matthew Mazzotta came with me to Athens, Ga., as the second artist-in-residence for the Athens Public Art Master Plan
During his visit, Mazzotta conducted five “outdoor living room” public conversations about art, place and community in Athens. The conversations were held at the University of Georgia student center, the UGA art school, a supermarket, a farmers market, and downtown. On Friday, Mazzotta was interviewed by me and Michael Lachowski (a member of the Athens Cultural Affairs Commission and founder of the seminal Athens band Pylon) about his experiences.
Read more about the visit, and Mazzotta’s suggestions about public art in Athens, in the attached articles.
